Paul Sykes was honoured as the ‘Philanthropist of the Year’ by his lifelong friend Sir Ranulph Fiennes at the second annual Jersey Style Awards in association with Bentley Motors.
The prestigious ceremony took place on Thursday 28th June 2018 at the Royal Jersey Showground celebrating and honoring the people who shape Jersey’s character, personality and individuality as one of the best-kept secrets in the British Isles. The winners included some of the islands most distinguished chefs, artists, business leaders, top retailers, curators and tourism figureheads.
Honoured for his philanthropic endeavours, Paul Sykes has spent the last three decades supporting a variety of incredible causes. From funding the construction of a specialist cancer unit at St. James University Hospital in Leeds, to restoration of Ripon Cathedral and raising millions for Marie Curie Cancer Care and funding Sir Ranulph Fiennes’ expeditions.
Now he’s focused on the planet and our environment and has been working tirelessly with Greenpeace. Always taking a hands-on approach to his charitable giving, he’s involved on the ground, helping and working with the charities to fulfil their ambitious needs.
